Imagine, as an adult having no choice about where you live or who you live with…

…For adults with learning disabilities this is often a reality. Bridge Priory Trust was established in 2008 to create this choice and provide housing in the South Liverpool area for adults with learning disabilites.

The transition into independent living is a major step for many who are concerned about the future lives of their family member. Housing in local areas surrounded by familiar faces has been found to be less stressful in this transition stage of their lives. Bridge Priory Trust is committed to creating choice and providing homes in their community. Bridge Priory Trust has emerged from “The Thursday Club” which opened in 1992. This Club is part of a Christian Ministry of Bridge Chapel, a local Community church in south Liverpool. It was set up for the specific purpose of meeting the social needs of adults with learning disabilities. This long term friendship forms an important link when considering this major step of independent living. Our aim is to provide homes in the South Liverpool area to enable adults with learning disabilities to move into independent living and to make the same housing choices we would expect to have. To fulfil this aim we have purchased our first property in South Liverpool. This property is now being rented by two local women with learning disabilities, supported by their care providers. Our next step is to purchase further properties, making them available for other adults with a learning disability.

This is a charity close to both of our hearts and any money raised would be greatly appreciated. For more information please check out the website http://www.bridgechapel.co.uk/bridgepriorytrust/
