Makara means January. I met this beautiful young woman during a sponsorship interview in Aranh Village in 2011.  One by one more than 100 children lined up to have their picture taken and their details recorded in the hopes that somehow, by miracle, they would find a sponsor and their lives would become just a little bit better.

I remember Makara as she was shy, she would never stand out in a crowd but if you had one on one time with her you would realise how special she is.  Makara is small, but she dreams big.

By chance Makara did end up with a sponsor, and her English advanced so dramatically that she now works as a Kindergarten teacher for our NGO, and spends her free time teaching children in her neighbourhood everything new that she learns.

Her sponsorship continued as she was accepted into University, and we could not have been prouder of her.  But the funds have dried up for next semester and we desperately need to help support her education.

Her dreams are big, but modest.  She wants to start her own business to help support her family.  She doesnt want riches, she just wants to earn enough to survive and create a better life.

Makara features in the following short video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeDnN_PNSd0
