Hey everyone! Most of you know me from church here in Columbia, or from when we lived in Florida. For those of you who don't, my name is Jordan. My wife, Stephanie, and I live in Middle Tennessee where we are raising our four awesome children: Celeste, Andrew, Israel, and Isaac.
Stephanie works hard, home-schooling the kids, and manages the affairs of the house (isn't that like a 30 hour a day job?).
Myself? I'm working fulltime, going to school fulltime, and doing what I can to volunteer at church. It's that second part that had the wrench thrown into it.
It started the week before the Fall term of 2013 started. I hadn't received any news on my financial aid, so I called the Financial Aid office. Since it was a Monday, I wasn't really surprised when they broke the news that I was no longer eligible for federal aid. No Pell Grants. No student loans. Nothing from Uncle Sam. I wasn't even eligible for anything from Uncle Volunteer State for that matter.
So what am I asking? Donate to my tuition, it's as simple as that. I have approximately $10,000 in tuition costs to finish my degree and it's worth it. Do you see those beautiful people in the picture? Ignore the guy with the goatee brining down the picture quality. That's my family. They are worth the long hours, crazy tests, and awful math headaches.
Each of those kids deserve a father who not only builds into their lives spiritually and emotionally, but also can support them financially. And believe me, my oldest boy is already giving us a sneak peak of the future grocery cost of teenage boys so I can't emphasize that need enough! My wife deserves to have that extra peace of mind that comes from having a steady, stable, and adequate income. And let's face it, having a degree nearly always opens up career paths and income streams that would otherwise be closed. Donating to my education is an investment into their future.
