The Tomcat Project has been given a great opportunity to open a dance studio of our own, enabling us to provide a formal dance education that is up to our standards. The studio is centrally located in San Diego in the heart of the Hillcrest Community. The space is 3,000 square feet with 25 foot ceilings and already furnished with hardwood floors. We need your help to claim the space before it becomes unavailable.

WHAT IS THE TOMCAT PROJECT?
The Tomcat Project is a nonprofit organization with the sole purpose of providing scholarships and financial assistance for students to take private dance instruction. We feel that art education is highly important and sadly these sort of programs are being cut from public schools everyday with no alternative for free classes.

OUR GOALS
Provide: Our main goal is to provide a place for young people to start or continue their formal education in dance.

Nurture: We want to nurture the idea that dance education is important, regardless of what the public schools think.

Strengthen: We intend to strengthen the minds of young people with formal education and strengthen the community around them by offering a positive place to go outside of home and school.

WHO ARE WE?
The Tomcat Project was founded by members of local dancers in San Diego. These members, coming form various backgrounds in dance education, all recognize the deficiencies in the the public schools art programs and all wanted to do their part to help remedy the situation.

WHY DID WE START THE TOMCAT PROJECT?
The Tomcat Project was started by dancers for dancers. We all feel that dance education is highly important and highly disregarded by our public school systems. Where the public schools fail to provide today's youth with no cost dance training, the Tomcat Project intends to step in. We plan to offer scholarships and financial assistance to those who cannot afford formal dance training on their own.

Average group classes can run a person anywhere between $10-20 per class and private lessons between $60-100 per lesson. In today's economy, a lot of parents are just not willing or able to pay for their children's extracurricular activities. We do not feel that a child should forego any sort of education or training because of financial holdups.
