Sierra Leone is one of the poorest countries in the world, and their education system is still recovering from the debilitating impact of a 10-year civil war that ended in 2002. Near the end of the war, in 2001, 67% of all school-aged children were not in school.

Although the government and non-governmental agencies have been working hard to make education a priority, funding has been focused at the primary level. Once they complete primary school, most of the students see their dreams come to an end, as the cost of education for secondary and post-secondary education increased drastically. Culturally, education for boys is prioritized, therefore young girls are often withdrawn from school and are forced into early marriages.

We want to change this. With your help, we can.

We have 75 promising young women who will be given the opportunity to learn, grow and realize their full potential. Their education will provide them with the knowledge and skills needed to secure gainful employment and lead a fulfilling life.

Your support will help to create and prepare a new generation of leaders that will contribute to their communities, their country, and globally. These young women will inspire others within their community to realize that their dreams are possible.
