Ameera started to experience leg pain in April 2012 and shortly afterwards she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Doctors at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children began chemotherapy straight away. She spent time as an inpatient and was then off school for almost the rest of the year. She was very brave in November 2012 when her hair started to fall out. Her treatment will continue until September / October 2014. We want to be in a position to help her Dad (and our colleague at Holloway) financially so that he can spend more time with Ameera in the coming days, months, and years without having to worry about where money is coming from. As most of us know the side effects of chemotherapy, which can include tiredness, fatigue, moods swings, pain, low immunity, nausea, vomiting, the need for further hospitalisation in the event of increased body temperature (38 C) and blood transfusions when the red blood cell or platelet counts become low, can be traumatic for adults let alone a 4 year old
