The Mitchel Harvey Development Fund
This fund was set up in 2002 to help a little boy who had been born 13 weeks prematurely in January 2000, he suffered a grade 4 brain haemorrhage at birth, which resulted in him developing Hydrocephalus, Cerebral Palsy and later on at the age of three, Epilepsy.
Mitchel is now 13 and doing well despite his disabilities, he has no use of his right arm or hand and cannot walk, therefore uses a powered wheelchair to get around, he attends a special school, he’s a very sociable, happy, friendly lad but has been through more pain and suffering than most of us will in a lifetime, including a major hip operation in 2010, with more operations planned for the future.
Mitchel’s needs are becoming more challenging as he gets older and bigger. In the past the fund has helped towards buying specialist equipment including walking frames, trikes and educational aids, also Brainwave therapy, adaptive clothing, ‘Horseriding for the disabled’ sessions, a wheelchair accessible vehicle and home/garden renovations and adaptions.
Any future funds raised will continue to meet Mitchel’s ever growing physical, educational and therapeutic needs.
