On April 28, I will be running the Nike Women's 1/2 Marathon in honor of my mom, Sue, who was unexpectedly diagnosed with FSG syndrome - a hidden disease causing kidney failure - in May. She was completely healthy prior to this diagnosis and was blindsided by it, as many other people are who suffer with kidney disease. Kidney disease effects 1 out of 6 Americans, which is more than cancer or heart disease.

Every 5 minutes, someone's kidneys fail. And now, of the 118,000 people on the transplant waiting list, over 93,000 of them are waiting for a kidney. My mom is one of them. We need to raise money and awareness because early detection and proper treatment can slow or even prevent the progress of kidney disease.

The money I raise while training for the race will go towards the National Kidney Foundation. Please help my mom and I fight this awful disease, I appreciate any and all of your support!
