Disclaimer: I was hesitant about cyber pan-handling but decided to go for it because it's a great cause and could seriously help a buddy in need...so here goes:

During an October camping trip in Yellow Wood State Forest, a one year-old puppy with no tags and no owner found his way to my Sister and Brother in-law's tent during the middle of the night.

Unbeknownst at the time, "Chip" (his new name) was partially blind (and begging for food). It seems his old owner had left him in the forest to fend for himself. Megan knew that i wanted a dog and called to gauge my interest...I said "bring him home".

When they dropped him off at my house, over the next few days I gradually noticed Chip would run into different objects in his new surroundings.

When taking him in for shots, the Vet noticed an eye condition and diagnosed him - cataracts and 95% blindness - noting the cause was most-likely genetic because of his breed.

So now, hundreds of dollars and various treatments later, the only solution is cataract surgery in both eyes.

Here's where you come in!: We hope this page elicits the help of a veterinarian or a vet school that might wish to perform the surgery as experience for the vet students. The cost for both eyes is $4,000. But even fixing one eye would make for a huge increase in Chip's quality of life - and allow him to enjoy being a puppy who can see. He really is a great dog (see attached video).

We may not find a volunteer Ophthalmologist, but if enough kind souls "chip in" $5 or $10 we believe our goal of $2,000 can be reached and Chip's Vision attained.

(**All money goes to the operation. After the goal is met donations will not be continued. Also, if we find a volunteer Veterinarian, all donations will be returned. Donations are secure and please add notes and tell who you are!)

Plenty of updates to come and thanks for sharing (and continuing) the story of this awesome dog!
