The BMORE Community Sculpture, as a brand, is a two-edged sword that is at once visitor-focused and resident-focused; it must cut both ways in Baltimore to be successful. The residents of Baltimore, particularly in the poorest neighborhoods, often feel left out and disenfranchised by the resources and attention lavished on the downtown central business district - and at tourists. BMORE can be a relevant art attraction for visitors and the centerpiece of a community initiative to instill local pride and encourage personal and community growth and development. Part of the beauty of BMORE as a brand is that the term has been associated with the City of Baltimore for a very, very long time for residents and visitors alike. It will be very easy for both locals and tourists to embrace this new spin on a traditional Baltimore identity. The basic BMORE theme embodied in the Sculpture not only is readily recognizable to generations of people but also speaks to the comtemporary racial, ethnic and cultural identity of Baltimore and encourages and celebrates our diversity and inclusion while simultaneously functioning as a invitation and welcome to our visitors. In other words, BMORE represents both "old school" and cutting-edge innovative thinking.
