Creating a Unified, Comprehensive Approach to Health

We’re a patient interest group started by researchers who have personal experience with a friend or loved one with cancer. Our combined experiences have shown that in Canada, we have extremely committed and gifted medical oncologists (cancer care physicians) and naturopathic oncologists (naturopathic doctors) who share the same goal of curing their patients, yet these professions are working separately. We believe if medical oncologists and naturopathic oncologists worked cooperatively, patients would receive more complete care which, ultimately, would result in improved outcomes. Our goal is to conduct concise research on interprofessional care patterns (how healthcare professions interact) and to use these results to make specific recommendations that will lead to pragmatic changes in cancer care practices. We’re currently undertaking a pilot study on referral patterns between local medical oncologists and naturopathic oncologists to (a) identify opportunities and barriers and (b) make specific recommendations to encourage partnerships and communication on behalf of their patients. To date, our study has been self-funded. We are looking for your support to raise funds to continue our research. Your support will allow us to share the results with members of the local, national and international cancer care community. On behalf of all people affected by cancer, thank you for helping us!
