Karen Aenod hasn't added a story.
This is Willy. At the all-too-tender age of 37, Willy was diagnosed with an advanced stage, very aggressive cancer in his colon. Despite this incredibly terrifying reality he's facing, Willy is a happy go lucky guy. He has a smile that lights up the room, and a laugh that comes from his soul. He's a loving fiance, an involved step grandfather to be, a hard working, down-to-earth, bursting with kindness and love kind of guy. He's the kind of man mothers pray their daughters have the good fortune to fall in love with and marry. He's the friend you can count on for anything, and the first man to arrive (smiling) when you need to move, light a bonfire, or just cry on a caring shoulder. Willy is *golden*.
After enduring months of chemotherapy, radiation, and radical surgery, hopes were high that Willy would be able to marry his fiance, go back to work, and continue to make everyone who knows him smile.
Sadly, this is just not going to be the case. This relentless cancer has spread to his liver. It is inoperable. Willy is going to have to endure much more than anyone should ever have to endure. As this all came on quite suddenly, and Willy is a working-class kind of guy, finances have become a bigger burden than the cancer itself. He is living in sub-par conditions, as his apartment building has become too difficult to navigate in his weakened condition. Not only does he need a new lease on life, he needs a new home.
Willy is engaged to a wonderful woman (Tammy) who has stood by his side throughought this horrendous ordeal. She spends her days caring for him, navigating the murky waters of American health care, and advocating for Willy's healing. Tammy spends her nights worrying. She worries about how they are going to afford the colostomy bags. She worries about how she's going to buy gas to drive him to his treatments. She worries about how they're going to pay for the nutritional supplements he so desparately needs. She bravely faces each day with hope and a fierce determination because she is too devoted to Willy to give up.
Times are tough. Money is tight. There is so much to have and do and we all want more. Willy and Tammy just want a chance to share their lives without worry of finances being the deciding factor in their fate. Please help Willy continue to receive the care he needs by donating to this cause. I promise, whether you donate $1 or $1million, Willy will appreciate it. Tammy will rest a little easier at night, and you will too.
