One of our Board Members Crystal Bublé lost her Noni (her grandmother) and in lieu of flowers the family have requested donations to Ruben's Shoes. We are incredibly touched and honoured that they would think of us during their time of hardship. We can't think of a better way to continue her legacy than to build a kitchen in her honour and name it Noni's Kitchen. Noni's Kitchen will provide at least one meal per day for 40 students at our partner school the Centro Educativo Toribio. All of the funds given will go directly towards building a kitchen, outfitting it with appliances such as a fridge and a stove, and providing support for ongoing maintenance such as power, running water, groceries, utensils and other utilities.

As much as Noni will be missed, her love of cooking and passion for giving will live on forever.

Many children in the Dominican come to school without any food and without having eaten breakfast. Recently the government mandated that all schools must provide one meal for each of its students every day. Noni's Kitchen will not only provide food and nutrition to 40 children every day, it will be an integral part of keeping the doors at the Centro Educativo Toribio open enabling these kids to continue with their education.
