I was contacted by a good person that tries to help stray cats when she can.  She knew this sweet, skinny stray was sick but she couldn't afford to take him to the vet.  I knew from her description of the cat's symptoms that he had a fully blocked urinary tract, which, left untreated, is fatal within days.  Since they live over an hour away from me, her husband drove to meet me part way...once I saw the cat's condition, I knew he needed to get seen right away!  I rushed him back to the vet closest to home...his bladder was so full that it actually stuck out above his thin little sides! With an inital "quick fix" quote of $500+, the vet seemed hesitant to treat or make any statements of prognosis other than this was a "very sick cat".  This inital visit is a temporary fix as re-blockage is common.  There is also the possiblitly that his kidneys have been damaged and the initial quote did not include blood work to see how or if this will have any long-term effect on his kidneys.  For now we are calling him "Gus"...I'm waiting for an update from the vet.  Thank you for reading his story and sharing if you are unable to donate. ~Michelle

Gus is currently at Pointe Veterinary Clinic in Fenton, MI.  I'm not sure if this office would consider taking direct dontions.
