Community Human Services mission is to provide community-based programs and services to disenfranchised Chicagoans. We are a not- for- profit organization founded in 1979 that serves adolescents and adults with advocacy, counseling, tutoring and job placement services.  Our main goal is to assist our program participants in becoming productive and effective members of their respective communities. The Community Youth Jobs Program targets Chicagoland communities that have been the hardest-hit by violence.  Given current budget challenges, Youth Employment is no longer guaranteed to our youth. Each year, CHSi bridges a small part of this gap by offering Youth between the ages of 14-19 with temporary and full-time employment.  The Community Youth Jobs Program aims to achieve the following outcomes: violence prevention, a reduction in risky behavior, and increase educational achievement. We will engage youth and offer them opportunities to learn hard and soft job skills including:

  • Career exploration and social growth
  • Financial literacy/personal banking
  • Professional behavior and communication
  • Real-world labor expectations
  • Increased awareness of services offered by local community-based organizations
