On Wednesday, July 17, 2013, a severe thunderstorm rolled through Kingsport, TN. What started out as a hot, humid day turned into a cloudy, soggy disaster. Several inches of rain fell within a few hours, causing unprecedented flash flooding around Kingsport. Downtown, Market St., Broad St., and Center St., turned into lakes and rivers. In residential areas, homes were quickly flooded with several inches to feet of water. Motorist became trapped in the rising flood waters as several feet of water sloshed across many local roadways.

Unfortunately, most do not have flood insurance because they are not in a flood zone. Most insurance policies do not cover flood damage.
