The Beaver Island District Library is hoping to create a comfortable and inviting space for young adults. Right now the Children's and Young Adult sections are two ends of the same wing of the library, with no real tangible divider between the two. In order to encourage positive interactions with literacy, libraries today most often offer young adults a cozier environment set off from both the adult's and children's areas.

We are hoping to tear down our obsolete typewriter booth, and use the extra space to set the Young Adult section off from the rest of the library a bit. We will need to pay for a small amount of demolition and new costruction, but most of the cost will be in new shelving to enclose the area and furniture to make it a welcoming space.
