Our grassroots campaign to save Greynolds Park needs your support. Funds are urgently needed to support the costs of the lawsuit.that has so far stopped the destructive construction project from proceeding. Please give today! More ...
We urgently need your help to put pressure on the City of North Miami Beach, the investors' group owning the land next to the park, Miami-Dade Parks Department, and any others who may have an influence on what will be erected adjacent to the park.

On 9/4/12, the NMB City Council approved a change in zoning for the property at 17400 West Dixie Hwy. to "B-2", which allows commercial buildings up to 15 stories. The owners (a NY/NJ investors' group) state they are planning two 10-story hotel towers overlooking the park, an office tower to the south of the hotels, and parking garage for 600 cars (SEE THEIR SITE PLAN DRAWING ON THIS PAGE). These towers would be very visible from the boathouse and lagoon and would forever ruin the natural atmosphere of that area of the park. The property can potentially also be "flipped" and end up with structures up to 15 stories.
A pending lawsuit filed by citizens (represented by Attorney Charles Baron, Tel. 305-933-9292; cmb@baronjustice.com) asserts the rezoning fails to meet city code criteria requiring it to be consistent with and in scale with the established neighborhood land use pattern.

While this suit puts the rezoning on on hold while the suit is pending, MUCH MORE than this will be necessary to prevent a monstrosity towering over east end of the park.
