Hi everybody, thank you for visiting my page and taking time to read this unfortunate story.

I am raising money to help give the Deschamps' family (my second family) a tiny glimmer of Christmas cheer this season after they lost half of their stuff in an unexpected, uncontrollable fire on Monday morning.

In the early morning of December 3rd, my friend, Chantal heard a bang outside their home and looked outside to see that both of her family's trucks were on fire.

The fire department was called as their separated garage also caught fire. The department was unable to use water to put out the flames due to electrical issues and the garage (as well as everything in it) burned. The flames were so hot that the siding on their house and their neighbours' home melted. What's left is what you see.

The garage was used for storing equipment as well as unused furniture, memorabilia, and various other items that they could not fit into the house. There were two floors of the garage - the upstairs (completely gone) held mostly furniture in storage. The main floor held items that belonged to Mrs. Deschamps' mother, Chantal's childhood toys and memories, Mr. Dechamps' tools he used to renovate their home as well as a few items that they were storing for myself. These were kept just above and behind the garage doors, which you can see are now completely gone.

The Deschamps are a wonderful family who adopted me as an unofficial daughter when I needed a helping hand. I have known them since 1998 and lived with them since 2008. They have provided me with housing, food and other miscellaneous support that I have needed to get myself established in the world. They never ask for anything in return and are always there to help me, and anybody else who need a helping hand.

On top of helping me, they've regularly given to charities that aid children with greater needs than my own. Mr. Deschamps has also always had a helping hand for neighbours regardless of if he's feeling well or not. He'd take me out even with migraines to teach me how to drive so that I could finally receive my G2. Rain or shine, they always have a smile on their faces and love to see others succeed.

I don't have enough money on my own to make even a tiny difference in getting them through this tough time and would love to surprise them for Christmas with even just a small donation to help them out. I know that money cannot replace the sentimental value of a box full of old cards or photos, but it can at least help relieve even just a tiny bit of financial stress and let them know that there are people out there, neighbours, friends, communities, who care about those in tough times just as much as they've cared for others in the same spot.

I'm not fond of asking for money, but I know that this is a good cause and I know that there are people out there who would love to help out a wonderful family. I want to help them like they've helped me. I know that what little amount that we'll be able to raise can't even compare to the amount they've put into helping myself and others succeed, but I feel it's the best thing that I can do at this time to help out my second family.

Please donate if you have time and leave your name if you want to let them know you've donated. Amounts will not be disclosed but I will be creating a Christmas card with donors names in them if they choose and will be giving it to them for Christmas.

Thank you for taking your time to read, and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
