I have been competing in amateur bodybuilding since 2009. Many would argue that the training and dieting would top the list of all the major hardships involved in this sport. For me, this simply isn’t the case. I live to be in the gym each and every day, and the diet has become so much a part of my lifestyle that it is who I am, even during the months I am not training for a competition. Currently, I am training for fall, 2012 competitions, and my physique is better than it has been in any previous competitions. This year, however, with the economy in its current state I find that my major hardship is financial. Bodybuilding is an expensive sport. The diet requirements and other monthly expenditures mount rather quickly. As I am sure you are aware, the cost of almost everything has gone up and continues to rise. In addition to training expenditures, the competitions carry a large financial requirement to include entry fees, tanning services, annual registration fees, food, and travel expenses. Due to the heavy financial burden and my shortage of funds this year, I am approaching any and all possible sponsors, business and personal, to ask for their assistance in continuing to pursue my passion that I have worked so hard for over these last few years. Below is a list of the competitions I plan to compete in this spring and their associated expenses: • 2012 NPC Competitor Card: $100 • 9/22 – Night of Championships Spokane, WA - Entry fee: $75 Due 9/22 - Tanning Fee: $80 • North Americans (National level competition) Pittsburgh, PA. - Entry Fee $150 - Tanning 100 - Flight -TBD As you can see, the competition fees alone total $505 before travel, food, and lodging is even factored in. That is why this year it is necessary for me to reach out and ask for assistance from any and all possible sponsors, friends, and family to assist me in these specific financial requirements, so that I may take the opportunity to compete in this sport for which I have sacrificed and paid with my blood, sweat, and tears. As a child I was diagnosed with a severe brain disorder (Temporal Lobe Seizures). I was having hundreds of attacks a day. My doctors said, if I survived my childhood I would be mentally retarded and incapable of surviving on my own. Through hard work, great people and Faith I have accomplished a lot in my life. I do not believe anything is impossible, if you truly believe in something you will achieve it! I believe that I will be a champion in bodybuilding and hope I have instilled faith and belief in you, that with your help I can achieve this goal. I will do my best to update the group of sponsors with pictures and Facebook posts from each competition the best I can so that they feel like they are a part of each competition. More than that, however, sponsors will know that they were able to assist a person that has worked so very hard for years, to take an opportunity to attain his dreams. That type of gift is priceless. Thank you for any assistance you can give. Respectfully, Chris A. Johnson NPC Heavyweight Competitor
