As Sunset alumni, you understand the impact of a strong educational support system. In order to support the next generation, we are forming the Sunset High School Success Initiative that will deliver financial resources to initiatives that impact our Sunset High students.
Through a partnership with Beaverton Education Foundation, the trusted, non-profit partner of the Beaverton School District, contributions to the Sunset Success Initiative will enable programs and initiatives at Sunset High to thrive.
How to Give: This year, our collective efforts will focus on an out of school time academic support program at Sunset. Your contributions will support the Sunset Cram and Jam Session (details below) and guarantee staffing and resources are available for the 2026-27 school year. When you make a tax-deductible contribution to the Beaverton Education Foundation through this secure platform, you will ensure that your impact reaches our Sunset students.

The Sunset Success Initiative: Support for SHS Cram and Jam Session
Sunset High supports success of all students. A successful Sunset High pilot program is looking for extended support to continue bringing a positive impact to students through an out of school time academic support program. "Cram and Jam" -- the robust weekly after-school tutoring program at Sunset High is designed to help students who need additional support to become proficient in math. With a focus on 9th graders—a critical transition year—and on English Language Learners (ELL), all Sunset High students are welcome to participate in the Cram and Jam session.

Academic Priority: math coursework, staffing each hour with two dedicated teachers or graduate mentors.

Quarterly Sprints: As each quarter ends, "just-in-time” support is provided for students who are on the verge of passing.

Student Engagement: Snacks and attendance incentives are provided to create a welcoming, high-energy environment that keeps students coming back.

Who is the Beaverton Education Foundation (BEF)?
Founded in 1988, the Beaverton Education Foundation raises money to provide hands-on innovative academic enrichment and advancement programs & projects that go beyond normal school funding at all 54 Beaverton public schools and is a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization. BEF mobilizes community resources to fund innovative classroom, summer, and after-school programs. Our mission is to directly connect our community and classrooms to provide all Beaverton students access to the people, tools and experiences that expand the depth, breadth and relevance of their academic journey.
