Our Story:
As a comprehensive, full-service herbal apothecary, The Vervain Collective supports local makers, budding herbalists, holistic practitioners, and all the folks who are interested in supporting their bodies and their families with natural and integrative healthcare.
When we opened inside Roots Zero Waste Market with this goal and vision 5 years ago, we had no idea how many incredible people we’d meet along the way! Discussions and the inception of a local apothecary and healing space started in 2017 and involved 7 other partners, and since then Kelsey and Nicole have never stopped listening, pivoting, and evolving to make The Vervain Collective a beautiful and welcoming place. We've learned so much from our wonderful shop stewards, customers, colleagues, students, local growers, DIYers, foragers, sustainability experts, practitioners, and teachers. We are proud to call them friends and we feel inspired every day! Our eclectic team, with its unique combination of personalities, skills, and roles, has nurtured this vision through huge economic and cultural challenges over the last 5 years (you know who you are, global pandemic!). We are more dedicated than ever to cultivating this community experience, and together we can bring more incredibly valuable and creative ideas to life!
Our Why:
Vervain brings botanical medicine to the people and keeps it affordable, accessible, and fun! We’ve heard the feedback - our community wants more! It’s important to us and our community that we be able to move into this bigger space to be able to offer more classes, practitioners, herbal products, and learning opportunities.
We are at a pivotal point in our growth; our shelves are overflowing and our classes bursting at the seams. We knew that we had outgrown our chrysalis and needed to expand our wings so we went looking for the perfect place to land. We found that at The Travis Building on 17th & Bannock on the west side of downtown Boise. Light, space, and parking. We launched into planning and designing mode with our brilliant architect friend Cathy Sewell of Platform Architects and started dreaming of a June launch date. 2024 construction costs and delays had other plans, but we are nothing if not stubborn and dedicated to our vision, so we are finding other ways to fund our move, including reaching out you! Your contribution today will support the costs of construction (by our friends at Ethos Design+Remodel) and the necessities for our move to the bigger, brighter, and welcoming new space.

It's a bright and brisk fall day in beautiful Boise. The air is crisp, the leaves are crunching underfoot, and you can smell the promise of cozy sweater weather. You step into our cheerful, welcoming space and are immediately enveloped by the soothing aroma of our Root Chai tea. Ah, bliss!
As you make your way to the counter, you grab a bottle of Vitamin C to replenish your supplement shelf—because we all know Boise's weather can be as unpredictable as a cat high on catnip. You notice our book wall has been refreshed with several gorgeous titles since your last visit. You can’t resist the temptation and decide to buy a book that you can curl up with over the winter to help plan next season's herb garden.
As you're checking out, you overhear a conversation about a new class on foraging for local mushrooms led by a local mycology expert and sign up immediately, determined to finally identify edible fungi along the Boise River. You compare morel recipes with our knowledgeable Shop Steward and head out the door with your warm mug.
This is what we're all about—creating a space where learning, community, and plant (and fungi!) medicine come together in perfect harmony. To keep these magical moments happening, we need your help! When you join our crowdfunding campaign, we'll send you updates on our progress as we complete the buildout: Bulk herb and tea walls. Tincture, skincare, and supplement displays. Beautiful and practical shelving for more amazing, healing products. Warm and welcoming surfaces in the consultation room and classroom to accommodate a more diverse team of practitioners and teachers. Painting, signage, and window coverings. Not to mention the basics like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, flooring, and permits!
Your financial contribution of any size will enable Vervain to move into our bigger space where we can improve access to health care with botanical medicine, educational events, community building gatherings, and interactions with doctors and wellness practitioners. About Us:
Dr. Nicole Pierce, NMD is a Boise native who began her medical career at The National University of Natural Medicine, in Portland, Oregon, Nicole's interest and joy is in connecting people to one another. Co-creating The Vervain Collective was a manifestation of her passions for community building and wellness care. Naturopathic medicine requires an integrative, systematic approach to formulate a treatment plan tailored to the individual; focusing on the cause, not just the symptoms. Effective community building shares a similarly systematic approach. Nicole looks forward to welcoming you to the Vervain apothecary as well as her private practice, to learn about your needs over a cup of tea. You will walk away feeling supported with some advice to incorporate into your health routine and most likely an introduction to a new person, plant medicine, and product line you will adore!
Kelsey Jae's brilliant mind and can-do attitude is always working behind the scenes at Vervain to keep the T's crossed and I's dotted . Kelsey’s in love with her ever-expanding garden and eager to expand her knowledge of the powers of plant based health through The Vervain Collective community. She explored a career in integrative medicine in college, but chose to become an attorney instead! She has years of experience building partnerships around energy, the environment, and sustainability while focusing on building community and support for local economies and purpose driven ventures. She is a Fellow with the Sustainable Economies Law Center and runs her own private practice, Law for Conscious Leadership, which is committed to supporting others as they develop meaningful livelihoods and create a more resilient economy. She also was a founding partner of the sustainability consulting firm, Warm Springs Consulting. She brings her passion for lifelong learning, infusing love into business relationships, and pursuing new adventures to The Vervain Collective.

During your session, Dr. Pierce will craft a custom herbal blend tailored specifically to your needs and you'll take home the finished product to support your wellness journey. Not local? No problem—virtual sessions are available!
You'll also receive all the rewards offered at the lower levels. Join us in bringing holistic health to our community!
