At Whitford Middle School, our goal is that each student will have a smooth transition into the AGS 1 math curriculum in 8th grade and feel confident in their ability to take notes and study for tests on into high school.

We are trying to move away from the consistent use of electronic devices and enable our school to implement Interactive Notebooks. We hope that this project will improve study skills and assessment scores for our 6th and 7th grade math community, such they will become Mathemagicians. Creating magic out of their math learning!

Not all our students have created a math notebook prior to middle school and documented their math learning in one resource. This tool will provide a uniform set up, through all grade levels and expectations for healthy student skills and habits. Each pre-printed bound, spiral notebook will have a Table of Contents, printed page numbers, Glossary and a helpful set of pages such as a multiplication chart to reference. In class, they will be able to customize their pages using post it notes, graphic organizers, highlighters and colored pencils to support of their understanding of Pre-Algebra math concepts.
