Organization to Help Assist the Poor Children of Haiti hasn't added a story.
It takes a global villiage to raise children in places devistated by poverty and natural disasters. We are that villiage.
Five years ago, a terrible earthquake hit Haiti killing hundreds thousands of people people and destroying much of the country. Volunteers from around the world went to Haiti to help, including my daughter Amanda Clayton, Adam Dougherty from Hawaii, and archetect Brian Johnson and engineer Scott Douglas from Seattle.
In Haiti, they met Djemson Jeaudy a remarkable young man whose family had already taken in several neighborhood children after they lost familiies in hurricanes of previous years. After the earthquake Djemson's family took in a total of 17 children, supporting them with their own earnings. Our American friends were inspired by Djemson's positive attitude and hard work for the children, for Haiti, and for the ecosystems of the island.
Djemson was accepted to EarthCorps and came to Seattle in 2013 to learn leadership and environmenal restoration skills. He was inspired to go back to teach the children organic gardening and start a nursury to reforest Haiti (big dreams). As his homestay mom in Seattle, and along with his other American friends, we are excited to support this project by raising the children's school fees each year so they can get an education and create a brighter future for Haiti.
It's a small amount for 17 children ($2,900) and will go right to their school for classes and books, but its more than Djemson's family can raise on their own.
Friends have been so generous with the Children's Home of Gonieves in the past! Please donate generously and share this campaign, and help us reach our goal of $2,900 by September 10th. We are happy to ensure that ALL the children keep learning!
