The Fab Lab With Crazy Aunt Lindsey is the one and only YouTube show that teaches kids just how fabulous science really is, connecting the dots between the magic of everyday life and the scientific process via beautiful, useful DIY projects.

Each episode features REAL KIDS, not actors, learning a new concept in science. This often leads to hilarious moments and mishaps but also genuine connections to science. This passion-project of real life babysitter (and blogger!) Lindsey E. Murphy was produced by an entirely volunteer based production team. The photography, videography, graphic design, the producer, editor, backend "web guy," and, in some cases, supplies for the projects themselves were all donated to the effort. All for the purpose of capturing the hearts and minds of children and the adults in their lives, endearing and enabling them to the wonders of scientific curiosity. Nearly 20 episodes of the show can be viewed on the YouTube channel. Ten more episodes were shot the Summer of 2012 but a devastating server hacking and a few other unfortunate circumstances stood in the way of the third season from being edited and uploaded.

For the sole purpose of finishing the third season of The Fab Lab, Crazy Aunt Lindsey endeavors to raise $10,000 in the next 40 days. And you can help.
The Impact

The sole purpose and mission of The Fab Lab and Crazy Aunt Lindsey is to change the way kids experience, understand, and relate to science and STEM education. This is especially true toward girls and ethnic minorities. This project is all about bringing science to life for kids while making it easy and beautiful for the adults in their lives to participate in the process of introducing and reinforcing science eduction at home.

Each episode features real kids, NOT ACTORS, learning a new concept in science. This often leads to hilarious moments and genuine lifelong connections to science. As a matter of fact, Jaylan, featured in The Fab Lab Lemon Battery video, won 1st PLACE at her school science fair a few months after shooting her episode when she replicated the project on her own. What other YouTube show can say that?!

By supporting this project, you play a massive role in the lives of children and families all over the internet by sending the message that science is fun, interesting, fabulous, and accessible to everyone. Pretty good, huh?

What We Need

For the sole purpose of finishing the third season of The Fab Lab With Crazy Aunt Lindsey by the end of 2014, this effort needs to raise $10,000 in the next 40 days.

The funding goes directly to:

  1. Editors fees to complete the remaining 10 individual episodes
  2. Rebuilding CrazyAuntLindsey.com from start to finish
  3. The production and distribution of your "perks"

And, If We're Lucky:

  1. New Equipment
  • A camera and lenses for new project shoots and more
  • A computer and editing software

Which, of course, means:

  1. Higher quality production of your Fab Lab supporter perks and scientific FABULOSITY

The possibility of:

  1. Even more episodes of The Fab Lab

AND HOPEFULLY:
The Fab Lab With Crazy Aunt Lindsey on PBS
(Hey, a girl can dream, can't she? DREAM WITH ME!)

You know what they say: Time is money. But who ever has both at the same time? This fundraising effort is an attempt to get that very footing so that Crazy Aunt Lindsey can dedicate the time and hire the persons necessary to finish what's already started. (And possibly take it to that illusive, proverbial "next level.") Not hitting the $10,000 goal could mean that, yet again, we lack the realistic resources needed to get this project made. A computer, camera, a great editor, the time needed to collaborate, think, write, and promote are the components needed to get 'er done. Read the full history of this project and its hurdles here.

What You GetIN ADDITION to 10 brand new episodes of this sweet little show, donor perks include personalized Tweets and Instagram posts of thanks, Executive Producer credits, Limited Edition Fab Lab Science Kits and other swag, PLUS the possibility of Crazy Aunt Lindsey doing a live show in your home or school with the kids of your choice. Just look to the right (or below if you're on a mobile device) for the full list of the fantastic perks and possibilities that come along with partnering with your Crazy Aunt Lindsey.
