This is a Love Story, but love cannot conquer all - infertility and cancer - if it could, you would not be reading the following story
Ashley & Martin were high school sweethearts. They married 6 years after high school and have been married for 6 years. They were anxious to start their family, but it was not to be. Through the miracle of God and doctors, they were able to harvest 5 embryos. Alas, the first procedure did not bring a baby. They only had one last chance. And then, the news they had longed to hear - one healthy baby growing. Joy all around. Ashley and Martin have such an amazing family, friend and coworker support system that rejoiced toghether in the beautiful news.
At 14 weeks into the pregnancy, Ashley felt a lump in her left breast. Immediately, she sought a professional opinion. Within one week and several tests, the nightmare began - stage 2 aggressive breast cancer. Their worst fears had been confirmed. All the emotions are experienced - the most painful being, "Why?"
Then Ashley's Army set to work. Together with her surgeon and oncologist, they had a plan. Tomorrow, she will have a mastectomy with chemotherapy to follow in 3 to 4 weeks. Chemotherapy will last for 12 weeks. All of Ashley's doctors and research assure her that their baby will be safe. So, as this journey begins, we will all be praying and believing in the power of God and the skills with which He has blessed her doctors.
This will be an expensive and trying time for this beautiful young couple. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go toward anticipated mounting medical bills. Family and friends have rallied around to care for her during her medical crisis. Thank you for your time and attention to Ashely and Martin and their baby.
As I said, this is a love story of how much we all love Ashley, Martin and Baby #ASHELY&BABYSTRONG
