This will help to achieve my ultimate goal of becoming a Midwife, words cannot describe my passion and determination I have to complete my aim!

Would you be willing to help me?

My name is Lorrett Wellings. I am currently a sixth form student in my final year at Sheffield Park Academy, I have applied to University to study Midwifery.

This is my ultimate dream in life, words simply cannot describe how much I strive to become a Midwife, I have an immense passion for Midwifery, where everyday my passion and determination grows.

The area which I have grown up in has been particularly difficult due to the communities around me having high rates of teenage pregnancy and unemployment, therefore achieving goals such as mine is challenging.

In order for me to gain to access a Midwifery course I require relevant experience. I have applied various times to the volunteer scheme with the NHS, however I have not been successful enough to gain a placement there.

Therefore I have applied to GapMedics to go to Tanzania for a two week placement at the Iringa Regional Hospital. This will make my application to University stand out and give me an opportunity to become a Midwifery student.

GapMedics will enable me to have the opportunity of shadowing a Midwife, giving me the chance to witness from ten to fifteen births per day including caesarian sections. During this time I will also be able to engage in local charity work whilst being over there.

Although, to enable me to go I aim to fund-raise £2,000, this amount would allow me to pay for the two week placement and also allow me to pay for flights to and from Tanzania. Not only do I wish to raise money to go to Tanzania, i also want to take with me supplies for the babies in which I do get to witness being born, for example nappies, babygrows and baby wipes.

However coming from a deprived area this is proving difficult, I have arranged various activities such as a 60's disco at a local pub, doing raffles, and name the teddy. Within sixth form I have also arranged for a onsie day, and conducting bake sales.

Therefore I ask you for your help, if you would be willing to donate or do anything possible to help me reach my desired goal. This would appreciated deeply! Please help me to reach Tanzania and have the opportunity to become a midwife.

Please help me to achieve this once in a life-time opportunity..

Thank you for taking the time out to read my page, it really does mean a huge deal to me(:

Kind regards always,
