Hello, my name is Dazy! I am a gentle yet rambunctious 4 month old border collie. On December 2, 2013 I suffered an accident and unfortunately broke my leg. Puppies are quick - before I could be grabbed, I jumped off the end of the bed. The front half of my body jumped off the bed, however my hind leg slipped and wedged between the end of the bed and the foot board. This basically hyper extended my back leg, breaking it just above the knee, across the growth plate.

I was rushed to Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists to repair a Right distal femoral Salter fracture and prepped for surgery.

Prognosis is excellent for healing (93% chance of recovery) however without the surgery I would have had no use of my right back leg again. With this heart breaking news my family chose to have the surgery done. My medical care came in at a price tag of $3,000 (plus extra costs for follow up xrays and future physical therapy sessions).
1st day home - kennel bound for 6 weeks
Many friends and family have offered to donate toward my extraordinary medical bills. We are humbled and touched by the outpouring of prayers and best wishes sent my way. If you would like to donate, please click the donate tab at the top of my page. Thank you, to each and every one.

My page will be updated with my progress. This will be a long road to recovery. In the end one leg will be slightly longer than the other since my growth plate was damaged. However, with the right care my future can still include Frisbee and agility. Even competition level sports is still possible one day. Anything is possible with this new "leash" on life =)

She looks like more of a petunia than a Dazy - the dreaded cone of shame!

Get me outta here, let's go home! She's doing great, surgery went beautifully!
