Since our founding (1997), the student organization, Sister 2 Sister, has played a major role in the transformation of campus life at the University of Michigan along with our brother organization H.E.A.D.S, who were founded in 1998. Our need for funding is for our upcoming 14th Annual Black Homecoming on the campus of the University of Michigan. The event is free and open to all University of Michigan students and takes place in the Rogel Ballroom in the Michigan Union. The event is semi-formal attire and gives students a chance to display their school spirit and appreciation for their peers on campus in a festive environment. This event uplifts the minority communities and to encourages cross community collaboration, scholarship and service at the University of Michigan and beyond. To promote an event that includes a diverse group of individuals, we personally invite several different organizations on campus, such as the Panhellenic Council, Latino Students Organization, Women of Proverbs 31, Muslim Students Association, African Student Association, Indian American Student Association, and more.

Over the last few years Black Homecoming has really become a staple event for our organizations. Attendance and support for this event continually increases, year by year. Last year there were over 700 people in attendance. We always have a free photo booth, DJ, food, decorations, lighting, linens, chair covers and more. Black Homecoming has been able to remain a free event because we receive funding from different councils across the university, but our yearly goal is to always expand and make the event bigger and better; therefore, we’re interested in expanding our budget to make our new ideas come to life. If you can’t tell, WE’RE IN DESPERATE NEED OF MONEY. We are asking students, alumni and everyone who supports H.E.A.D.S and Sister 2 Sister to donate whatever they can, so we can continue to provide our campus with an amazing homecoming dance that the students deserve. Black Homecoming is approaching fast so please spread the word and support us.
