After high school I headed to college to find a career path, but I still had so much growing up to do. Unfortunately, being away from home and family took a toll on me and I moved back to Chillicothe. Luckily, this ended up being a good move. I enrolled into a community college and volunteered through Americorps Vista, which allowed me to have the chance to gain life experiences’ that has helped me grow into an adult. Soon after, an amazing little boy came into my life. Maxwell was three years old and battling Leukemia. Many people would tell me how awesome it is that Max had me there for him, but I am the lucky one. Maxwell taught me more than I could have ever imagined. He became my life and we were happy together. The day came though that Maxwell had to return to his birth parent, which was sad, but also a happy time for us, because it is what Maxwell deserves. Now, I have finished my 2-year degree, and working towards transferring to a 4-year college (Ohio university). Unfortunately, I have learned that I have not enough financial aid to transfer to a larger university. I once heard of students setting up online fundraising websites for support. This sounded like an awesome opportunity to reach out and ask family, friends, and my community for support. I was always taught, “it never hurts to ask for help”. So today I am asking for your support to reach my goal of 1500 dollars. Any amount that you can spare would be a great help and always appreciated. On August the 25th, my family will be putting on a cookout for me to support me during this next transition through this journey of life.
