WordShed Productions is an interdisciplinary cultural platform that develops and presents work across literature, film, performance, and visual art in public-facing spaces. Rooted in artistic practice, dedicated to creating sustained environments where artists and audiences engage directly with questions of identity, community, creativity, language, culture, memory, power, and belonging.
Through live programming, curated exhibitions, film, and collaborative projects, WordShed Productions brings together diverse voices and places them in dialogue across communities. Its work moves between community-based spaces, including galleries, theaters, and educational institutions, expanding access and participation while building connections across difference. Projects developed under WordShed Productions, including the WordShedNYC series, group art exhibition, Notes from Daughters , an experimental documentary feature, Good Girl , and beyond, incorporating center lived experience as a site of inquiry, using storytelling as a tool for reflection, confrontation, and collective understanding.
Leah Kogen-Elimeliah is a Moscow-born, New York–based poet, writer, filmmaker, curator, and educator. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of literature and creative writing at The City College of New York and is the founder and director of the WordShedNYC Reading Series. Her interdisciplinary work moves between poetry, performance, visual art, and film, exploring themes of identity, language, immigration, sexuality, and cultural memory. She has collaborated with independent artists across disciplines, developing cross-genre, multimedia projects that merge text, image, and movement. Her work has been presented at venues including La MaMa Experimental Theatre, Howl! Arts, Creative Time’s Red Stage, The New York City Poetry Festival, The Higher Ground Arts Festival, LatchKey Gallery, The Trops, and ROCA, among others. She has a forthcoming poetry collection What to Pack in a Suitcase , is currently curating a group art exhibition Notes from Daughters which will open September 2026 , and is finalizing her experimental documentary feature film Good Girl .
