Kindergarten is a fantastic time for students to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, and problem-solving skills they will use to grow as a member of our classroom community and prepare for first grade.

This year my goal is to create authentic experiences that develop and strengthen each student's identity in our classroom community. Our kindergarten program aims to support students to expand their genuine love of learning. This will be done by building their sense of who they are and who they are to one another through inquiry and purposeful play. Painting is a way for children to do many important things: convey ideas, express emotion, use their senses, explore color, explore processes and outcomes, and create aesthetically pleasing works and experiences. Painting also helps develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Most importantly, painting provides a way that all students can participate in and create work they are proud of. 

My goal is to surround my students with creative and play-based literacy opportunities to build community, genuine engagement in the learning process, and promote imaginative thinking through wonder and excitement and hands-on activities all students can engage in.
