Caitlyn Denning hasn't added a story.
Hi, y'all!
My name is Caitlyn Denning and I am a freshman at Stephen F. Austin State University (Axe 'Em, Jacks!). God has blessed me with the opportunity to do something I have never done before: this June, I am going on a mission trip to Alaska.
I, along with eleven other members of S.F.A.'s Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship organization, am going to be joining the staff at Camp Agaiutim Nune (more affectionately referred to as Camp AN) from June 8th-18th to love on the campers who will be attending.
The children we'll be working with desperately need this week as a reprieve from the physical and emotional abuse they suffer through. The area of Alaska that they come from has one of the highest suicide rates in America -- a statistic that has left some of them orphaned as a result. I feel immensely thankful for the chance to share God's unconditional and extravagant love with these children while working to ensure that the week they spend with us will be fun-filled and exciting.
Please pray that:
- God will continue preparing the Chi Alpha team as the date of our departure draws nearer
- we will arrive safely to both camp and home, as we will be travelling via plane, four-wheeler, and boat
- the children will feel God's presence stirring their hearts and surrounding them with His love and grace
- this trip will be life-changing for everyone involved -- both for the staff workers and campers -- and that we will all walk away from this experience with new knowledge and understanding from God
In order for us to embark on this exciting adventure, however, each member of my team must reach an individual fundraising goal of $2,500. This cost covers all traveling, food, and lodging expenses. Any amount you could contribute toward this goal would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support and prayers. I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for my team and I in Alaska, and I can't wait to share my experiences with all of you.
Much love and gratitude,
Caitlyn Denning
In the Yukon Delta of western Alaska, Camp Agaiutim Nune means "the place of God." For the hundreds of children and teens in nearby villages whose everyday experience includes suicide, drug and alcohol addiction, and abuse (in every sense), there week at Camp AN is just that.
This Summer we will join the Children's Camp Crew (ages 9-12) to create a safe, exciting place for these kids to encounter Jesus Christ, serving in every way from counselors to set-up / tear-down crew.
