Vancouver Children's Choir European Tour: A Once in a Lifetime

Support an exceptionally talented group of 30 singers from the Vancouver Children’s Choir, ranging in ages from 8 to 17, to attend the annual Rhapsody! International Choral Festival by Classical Movements held in Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague from July 9 to 19, 2015.

We need your help!

To participate in the international Music Festival, each chorister needs $3,500. We need your help, and your contribution will give these talented and passionate young singers the unique opportunity to share fantastic choral experiences in three European cities that breathe music. They will create lifelong international friendships, broaden their knowledge of the world and other cultures, and learn to interact and sing with other choirs at joint workshops and shared concerts.

The Vancouver Children's Choir

Founded in 1983 by Rupert Lang, the Vancouver Children’s has been praised for their artistry at local music festivals, including the International Kathaumixw in Powell River and placed second in the Children’s Choir category at the International Musical Eisteddfod, in Llangollen, Wales. Throughout its thirty year history, VCC has offered excellent vocal training and a wide variety of performance experiences, including singing for royalty as well as civic, provincial and federal functions. The choir has recorded sound-track and on-screen work for Disney Films, NBC and Paramount Pictures and have provided back-up vocals for artists such as Judith Forst and the Vancouver Symphony, and continue to sing for a diverse range of corporate events!

Along with several local tours, in past years VCC has toured Italy, as well being choir-in-residence at an international conference in York, England. This choir has brought their voices to a wide variety of famous spaces such as Coventry Cathedral in England, St. Peter’s in Rome and Carnegie Hall, New York.

Many current VCC choristers are also excelling in musical theatre, opera chorus and youth orchestras. Several choristers have been invited to participate in the national choral gatherings, while others have participated and placed in local vocal festivals. A current chorister also placed first in their category in an international vocal competition and performed at Carnegie Hall, New York in 2014. Many VCC Alumni have gone on to successful musical careers. In all cases they have credited their musical beginnings with the years they spent in Vancouver Children’s Choir.

The Vancouver Children's Choir is excited to be part of the Rhapsody International Music Festival in 2015. The children are working hard to get there. Help them make their dream a reality.
