Stephen passed away after a long battle with a serious heart condition. He is survived by his wife, my sister, Adena and their 5 year old son, Noah. After years of countless doctor's appointments and finally being taken off the heart transplant list at MUSC, he found peace on September 29th. The cold hard truth however, is that even if you have a loved one that you know may pass sooner than later, you are rarely prepared for it. Our entire family was together on the Sunday before his passing and I can tell you, Stephen looked great! I would have never expected this so soon. But now, Adena is left facing a mountain of doctor and hospital bills as well as memorial costs that they didn't fully prepare for. Even though Stephen and Adena knew the time would come, you can't, as a parent, look at your young child and believe that you won't be allowed more time. That's why I'm asking you all, with a heavy heart, to help if you can. I have gotten so many personal messages asking how to help Adena and Noah get through this difficult transition and the answer just wasn't clear beyond love and support. However, the more I quietly listen and the more I observe the more I realize that Adena could really use a financial hand up to get through all this. I'm setting a goal of $2,000 so that we have something to work towards, but anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated. Every little bit helps! And if you have nothing else to give but love, that is appreciated too.
