Ruby is my beautiful sweet 2 Yr Old Dachshund who is in need of a life saving surgery to remove her tumor on her head.

About 2 yrs ago, I saved a pup whom I named Ruby. I was reading Craiglist ads one day and came across an ad that described a 9 week old pup who was scarred due to a birth mishap. The owner had no choice but to take the pup to the Kill Shelter or to put her down if no one was to want to take her after her sibilings have been sold off. I drove from Austin, TX to Converse, TX to pick her up the same day I read the ad. The man told me her mother gave birth unsupervised and that Ruby had gotten stuck. By the time this man and his wife got home to find the mother giving birth it was too late. The mother had pulled Rubys skin off the top of her head in an attempt to get her unstuck. When I saw her she had been healed only a flat scar down her head showed. She was beautiful to me and didn't bother me that she was different.

She joined my family and imediately was loved by everyone. She's Funny, Smart & Very Loving and Sweet! Our Dotson Stewie and her became inseperable best friends who loves to play ball, sunbathe and occasionally napping together.

After her second year she started getting small lumps under her scar. Our vet referred us to two Specialist who told us it was just Dermoid cyst and that they can easily be removed and sometimes disappear on their own. The first specialist even drained one that had got infected. A couple months went by and we noticed larger lumps at the top of her head. I took her in once more to the second specialist for his opinion. He said the cyst are growing and to schedule an appointment for removal. Just before I could schedule an appointment, Ruby's cysts got infected and started to lump up and tear through her scar. It looked very painful for her and we were worried she was uncomfortable.

I had Ruby checked by her primary vet who told us the cysts have merged together forming a deadly tumor under her veins in her head. He informed us that the infection is going to spread and Ruby's tumor is growing rapidly, If surgery is not done immediately it will be impossible for her to survive the surgery she will lose some feelings and functions or movement of her ears and face and possibly the infection will kill her as well.

I do not have much time to raise money but this is my last effort at trying. I could only come up with half of the money for Surgery and her vet has been so kind to donate some as well and discount her surgery. But I am still short $2800. It is a very long, difficult, and expensive surgery and may have to be a second surgery in the future and I just want her to come out of this alright.

Ruby's Tumor

Please anything helps my Sweet Ruby Doo I just want her to have another chance at life! I saved her once and I am trying to do everything in my power to save her again!  Stewie her Best Friend and I will be forever greatful for anything that is given to save her and our family from losing her to this horrible tumor.

Thank you in Advance,

Ruby's Mom Linda
