My name is Christine, I am a visually impaired athlete training to qualify for the Canadian Team for the 2016 Paralympcic Games.

I was born into a competitive family of world class athletes. Both my aunts competed at the highest levels as part of Team Canada in Show Jumping and Alpine Ski Racing. Born with a visual impairment my parents always encouraged me to pursue many sports: swimming and running on high school teams, skiing, and especially riding horses in show jumping competitions at the Grand Prix level.  Career highlights include a Gold medal win at the BC summer games.

After completing my Masters of Public Policy at Simon Fraser University I moved to Ottawa for a job and was challenged to join a Running Room half marathon clinic by a friend. I completed four half-marathons in two years.

After my fourth half-marathon I needed a new challenge.  Another friend invited me to Triathlon Canada’s first para triathlon camp and I have been hooked ever since. I love the challenge of training for all three sports at once!

2015 was my second season competing in World Paratriathlon Events at an international level and my first year with my new guide Sasha! It has been an unbelievable year; racing in Mexico, London, Rio and Chicago. Every race is an adventure and every race we get stronger!

I am continually amazed and grateful for all the support and generosity of my family and friends. It takes a team to build a dream. Please join my support team and help make Rio a reality.

Thank you,
