My name is Kaitlin Marshall I live in Prince George BC and am 17 years old. My sons name is Lincoln Cote and was born June 25 2013. Within the first hour of life Lincoln was intubated for he wasn't breathing on his own. On the 26 of June we were told we needed to be sent to BC Children's hospital in Vancouver for they couldn't do anymore for him in Prince George. The doctors have tried numerous times to remove the breathing tube but they have discovered that his vocal cords don't function properly and block off his airway. After an MRI was preformed to see if something in the brain was causing this, they found that he was missing the septum pelucidum (the middle part of the brain) and that he also had grey matter throughout the inside of his brain. It has come to the conclusion that he needs to get a tracheostomy and will be tube fed for the rest of his life, requiring 24/7 365 days a year care. They aren't sure what mental issues he will have but neurologists predict he will be moderately to severely disabled and is a high risk for having seizures. I also am unable to live at home do to all his equipment and in home care needed, so I am unsure of where i will be living when i return home. Please donate to help Lincoln and me with his medical costs. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated!
