Dear all my wonderful friends and family,

In the rural region of Bwindi in South West Uganda, 85% of the population live on less than 1 dollar a day and 50% are illiterate. 4 years ago the social enterprise Volunteer Uganda was set up with the mission statement to help bring about permanent, sustainable development through educational infrastructure development, job creation, health promotion and volunteering.

I have been lucky enough to be accepted on the 2013 award winning Limited Resources Teacher Training programme (LRTT), which takes UK teachers to Bwindi with the aim of supporting the community to develop its own education system. We will be sharing the knowledge gained from our own extensive training here in the UK with Ugandan teachers through this ‘grass-roots’ development initiative. Through this we hope that Ugandan students will achieve higher and have access to better life opportunities.

It costs £15 to sponsor a teacher to attend this training, so if I reach my goal of £500 we will be enabling over 30 teachers to attend this training that would otherwise be unavailable to Ugandan teachers.

However, I don't expect you to pay up without working for it! I will be running the British 10k London on Sunday 14th July. http://www.thebritish10klondon.co.uk/
I have never ran a sponsored run before and have been training hard and will keep you updated on my progress.

If you are able to sponsor me, any amount would be very gratefully received.
