Pals, this is a very urgent Helping Paws matter. Our client is an 8 week old Pembroke puppy named Frank. Here is his heartbreaking story in the words of Corgi Mom Genevieve:

"Frank is an 8 week old Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy I got on Sunday to be trained as a therapy dog to visit hospitals, nursing homes, and possibly incorporate into my therapy as a clinical psychology grad student. Well Frank got sick on Tuesday morning and I rushed him to the animal hospital where he was diagnosed with parvo. The three vets I consulted with yesterday said the odds of Frank having caught the virus while I've had him are extremely slim to none based on the incubation period of parvo (3-5 days). So basically the breeder sold me a sick puppy. The breeder gave me the option of getting a refund and/or give him back to her. However, she refuses to take him to a vet because "puppies with parvo usually die anyway." I refuse to send him back there just to die in the company of someone who obviously doesn't care about him. Unfortunately I don't have the money right now to afford his care. Right now I'm looking at an estimate of $1600 if everything from here on out goes well, but it's touch and go. I'm a grad student and even with student loans and 3 part time jobs I can't cover it all."

I will be fronting the cost of this up front from the CorgiPals general fund, which I keep around for emergencies like this one. I have set up a Fundrazr to reimburse our general fund for as much of the cost as possible. Whatever Frank doesn't use will be used for other Corgis in need. Please spread the word for this sweet little boy. He hasn't even had a chance to live his life yet. :(
