"A Family's Dog Goes Missing on Christmas Eve"

OKLAHOMA, OK -- A family's beloved dog Maddox goes missing on Christmas Eve.

"As soon as I heard it I honestly fell to the floor," said its owner, Jackie Vestal.

The seven-year-old Miniature Pinscher escaped through a garage door at a home in the Camelot Addition on N. May between 122 & Hefner.

"He just took off running as fast as he could," said Jackie's mother-in-law, Judy Liles.

The homeowner was dog-sitting while the family spent the holiday at a hotel in the Dallas area.

When the family found out that Maddox had gotten loose, they immediately drove back to Oklahoma City to search for him.

"It's heartbreaking," said Liles. "This is their baby. They don't have any children of their own. They're newlyweds."

"My wife's mom passed away a few years ago and Maddox really helped her get through that," said Brandon Vestal.

While searching for animal shelters and veterinarians to call on Google, they came across a website specializing in finding pets.

"I found this pet detective website," said Jackie Vestal. specializes in finding lost dogs. The pet finders design posters and make robocalls to neighbors in the area where the pet went missing.

"Instead of an Amber Alert for kids, it's a dog Amber Alert," said Liles.

"I didn't know there were pet detectives. I thought that was a movie thing, but there is and i'm hoping they're good at what they do," said Brandon Vestal.

The Vestals say the dog is wearing a Thunder collar and has a microchip.
