Why we were formed:
CampedUP was formed by Teachers of the Deaf that have a strong passion for creating a nurturing and social environment for children. After working 1:1 with students in a mainstream school setting, Brittany and Dana realized that many of their students were the only ones in their school and family that had hearing loss. They wanted to find a place where they had an opportunity to meet and build relationships with other kids just like them, and that's when the idea of CampedUP was formed.
Who we are:
Starting in 2013, CampedUP campers were provided with the opportunity to experience all the joys of a typical summer camp, while still getting the resources and support necessary to be successful and continue to work on their listening and spoken language skills. CampedUP has been instrumental in fostering friendships, building self-identity, and encouraging self-advocacy. CampedUP prides itself on developing young minds and helping campers feel confident and secure. Younger campers look up to older campers that wear listening devices just like them.
How you can help:
Your help is imperative in making sure as many campers have access to camp as possible. It is our goal to be able to assist all families seeking financial assistance for their child because we believe all children deserve equal opportunity. The funds raised from this campaign will go directly into our scholarship fund and your donation will help children that would otherwise not be able to get the opportunity to not only attend camp but also attend a camp made specifically for their hearing needs. Given the opportunity, children will be able to share in the joy of camp and let their hearing devices shine!
Where does the money go:
The phrase “every dollar counts” has never been more true. 100% of the money raised will directly impact children.
Your donation will
- Provide a week of camp to a CampedUP camper.
- Allow for campers to have a morning filled with art projects, team sports, music, and cooking
- Allow campers to enjoy the fresh air and sprinkler on our out-door roof deck
- Provide weekly special guests such as clowns, magicians, bubble shows, and reptile exhibits
And most importantly, YOUR donation will provide campers with a summer experience they will always remember. One filled with creativity, laughter, and community.
