Life for children with disabilities in China is hard.

Some children and their families live in a daily struggle with poverty and stress.

Lack of resources and social stigma create pressures that are difficult to bear.

Other children have experienced abandonment because their family couldn't cope.

All of them are in need of vital services. Services that will help them feel loved, have hope for the future, and opportunities to fulfil their dreams.

Help the most vulnerable children in China by either:

Jia Xin's story

Jia Xin’s family live in a small apartment of around 60 square metres. Most of the family’s furniture has been collected from what others no longer wanted.
Jia Xin’s parents love her very much, but much of their income has been spent desperately trying to meet her medical needs and find answers to her developmental delays. Born prematurely, she needed extra medical care and their expenses grew.
Jia Xin's family struggled to find the help they needed to support her fully. During the COVID pandemic, life became so difficult that Jia Xin’s Mother nearly gave up.
Through the specialized intervention of the Family Partners (FPP) teachers and therapists, Jia Xin is now opening up to the world. She is able to use her hands more skilfully and is starting to speak. She loves the outings and activities run by FPP and her social skills are blossoming.
Her mother now has hope that her future is bright and is daring to dream about all Jia Xin could grow to become.
By joining Walk the Wall and raising funds, you will be helping create life-changing opportunities for families like Jia Xin’s.

Bo Bo's story

Bobo is a handsome 14 year old boy with dancing, expressive eyes. He lives with Down's Syndrome and has been in ICC's care since he was only a month old.
Despite some challenges, Bobo has learned to do many things independently. He has the benefit of attending special education classes with his ICC teachers. He listens carefully, is curious about new things and is eager to try them. His favourite classes are art and cookery.
Bobo is a loved member of the Skylark family in the ICC Hengyang centre. Despite experiencing the pain of abandonment as a baby, he has been loved and nurtured by his caregivers who have helped shape him into the lovely and joyful boy he is today. Because he was loved, he can now love back – and he does that with full abandon!
By joining Walk the Wall and raising funds, you will be helping children like Bobo have every opportunity to develop and reach their potential, no matter what their disability.

Our inclusive walks have been designed so everyone can get involved, whether you're moving on your feet, using a wheelchair, or pushing a pram. Join us in person on event day or take part virtually, wherever you call home.

 

VIRTUAL WALKBRISBANE WALKPERTH WALK

16-17 OCTOBER 2021

Plan your own walk, run, ride, or scoot in your local area or favourite spot.

SATURDAY 16 OCTOBER 2021 - 8:30AM

Walk, ride, scoot or bring your dog (on lead) and walk the beautiful Porters Paddock walkway.

Arrival from 8.30am for 9.00am walk start.

Location:

Porters Paddock Park, Minnippi Parklands, 157 Stanton Rd, Tingalpa, Brisbane.

SATURDAY 16 OCTOBER 2021 - 8AM

Walk, ride, scoot or bring your dog (on lead) and walk the beautiful route from Kalamunda Christian School to Kalamunda Public Library Carpark and return via the Kalamunda Railway Heritage Trail.

Arrival from 8.00am with walk starting at 8.30am.

Morning tea and a sausage sizzle will be provided at the school at the end of the walk.

Location:

Starting location is Kalamunda Christian School, 6 Halleendale Road, Walliston.
