Students in this specialized ISC program experience a variety of developmental differences including autism spectrum disorder, developmental delay, and sensory integration disorder. These learners benefit from “sensory breaks” that allow them to center, calm and re-focus in order to be ready to learn.  We are asking for your support to help us address this important need.  Currently our community has a small quantity of tools and materials that help create these sensory experiences, however they currently need to be shared among multiple students.  As we begin to plan for students to return to our classroom, we hope to create an environment that is as healthy and safe as possible. It is no longer the best health practice for students share items that can be transmission vehicles for viruses. 

With your support, we would create individual “Sensory Bins” for each student. These bins would contain a set of materials used by a single student to achieve the sensory experiences that allow them to calm and re-focus on their work and the instruction.  We would curate the most effective materials and tools to address the sensory need of each student.  By eliminating the need to share these items, we increase the overall health and safety of all of our community members.
