Luisa Oertli hasn't added a story.
We are a young couple and after our wedding, we had the wish to start a family, but after all the years now, we have to accept that it will always stay a wish.
So we decided to fulfill another big wish of us, a dog in our life!
We found a very lovely family, which had eleven half-breeds! And two of them were still up for adoption. We were overwhelmed by all the cute puppies and love they got.
One of the two puppies sniffed us curiously and then lay down in my lap and instantly held a nap.
That was the moment when we both knew, that’s the one. That’s our new family member!
Immediately, we prepared our home and ourselves for the new arrival. 3 weeks later we brought her home to us.
Midna is a very docile, curious and loving dog. Her quiet and unobtrusive way easily paved the way into the hearts of not only our cat but of the neighbourhood children as well.
She also has always fun to learn new things, which in addition to her pleasant nature and her good behaviour repeatedly earns her praise in the dog school. She is our dream dog regardless from which angle you look at her and her iceberg melting puppy eyes only drives the point in further.
However, some weeks later we discovered that her walk became rapidly worse.
She also stopped playing with other puppys and dogs and rested more often than other dogs. She had no desire to go on more walks and had noticeably less and less power in the hind legs.
After getting her to a Doctor it became clear: she has very severe case of hip dysplasia!
This diagnosis hit us like a blow.
We took her to the Bessy’s Animal Clinic for a second opinion.
There, we received kind and professional advice and were explained everything about the situation to the last detail.
Ultimately, we were forced to choose between two options to elevate her pain: surgery on both sides of her hip or euthanasia.
After all trouble we went through and the new love and hope we found in Midna, we could and still cannot imagine putting her down. Not to mention, that robbing the world or at least our neighbourhood of such a wonderful dog, with the knowledge that a surgery could help and let her have a normal and free of complaints life, was unbearable. In fact, there is the surgery-option, which would allow her to age and hopefully die as an old and healthy dog with a wonderful fulfilled life.
But the costs are sadly too high for us.
Both hip sides would come at the cost 15'000. - and the necessary therapy fort he months between and after each surgery also come at an enormous price.
Still, we don’t want to lose her just because of the money!
That’s why we ask sincerely and from the bottom of our hearts for help. Help for Midna. Please save her, don’t let her suffer and die!
Midna has a strong perseverance. We are sure that she will survive the rigors of surgery well, and will grow into a magnificent dog. Her balanced and steady nature will be a lot of joy for us and all others whom she will encounter in her life, now and in the future.
