Here at Happy Paws Haven we rescue cats and Dogs, we give them what ever medical treatment they need, desex them, chip them and immunise them. We assess them for any behavoural issues and put in place enrichment and behavioural modification plans so that they can have the best chance to get a wonderful forever home.
Due to this we owe our vet $20,000 which we have to pay before June 30th, the end of our Vet's Financial Year!
Happy Paws Haven currently has 4 puppies and 10 kittens waiting to be immunised and desexed but can't aford to do it as yet due to the vet bill. Please help us pay our vet bill before the end of June! Please let Happy Paws Haven continue the good work that it does with the cats and dogs in need!
Ilana is a great example;
Ilana had been hit by a car on the highway, she looked as if she had broken a leg, she had no chip and no-one came forward. A decision to euthanise her was made. A call was made to Happy Paws Haven, we said "no", lets X-ray her instead and see what the extent of the damage.
We sent her X-rays to Sydney Small Animal Hospital (SASH) asking Dr Andrew Marchevsky his advice.. Due to her multiple fractures of her rear left leg it was decided to amputate it as she is a young dog and deserves a second chance.
Dr Lucy Bond of Riverbank Animal Hospital did the surgery. All went well!
Young Ilana is now a very happy and very lucky dog looking for her forever home.
She seems to adjusted already to walk with just three legs. Infact she feels so good it is hard to keep her still! She is in the wonderful hands of her special foster carer Kate Joseph who has nursed her back to health and as an animal behaviourlist has been working her her making sure she is adjusting beautifully.
Ilana thinks it's GREAT to stretch out and run after getting over her surgery! She walks nicely on the lead and despite having lost a leg in a car accident, can manage a few stairs if necessary. She's keen on an indoor/outdoor lifestyle with a supportive and gentle family who can guide her soft nature positively
