Conjunctivitis or so-called "pink eye" is a bad inflammation of a transparent and smooth mucosa covering the inner surface of the eyelid. Inflammation occurs in many forms: from mild redness, increased lacrimation, acute purulent inflammation, to long-term problems associated with altered production of tears. This allergy treatment is described in the article.
Conjunctivitis - Causes The causes of conjunctivitis can be diverse: viruses, bacteria, allergies, a chemical splash in the eye, foreign material inside your eye, in newborns, a blocked tear duct. Infectious conjunctivitis is usually caused by a virus that is typically transmitted by contact. Allergic conjunctivitis is not contagious, which occurs during the pollen season but can have the whole annual character. Allergy can also cause dust, animal hair and cosmetics. In response to allergens, the body generates an antibody that is called immunoglobulin E (IgE). The antibody triggers certain cells named mast cells in the mucous lining of the eyes and airways to release inflammatory objects that include histamines.
Difficulties may also arise during the stay in unclean premises, and, for example, when working on the computer. Evil influence is polite city air, cigarette smoke, dry air. Those who wear contact lenses, in particular, should pay special attention. Irritation from a foreign object or a chemical splash inside your eye is also linked with conjunctivitis. Usually cleaning and flushing your eye to remove any substance or chemical leads to irritation and redness. Symptoms and signs that might have watery eyes and mucous discharge, usually pass away on their own within about a day.
Conjunctivitis - Symptoms Symptoms of conjunctivitis are burning, itching, redness, foreign body sensation in the eye, swollen eyelids. For bacterial conjunctivitis, inflammation is associated with an overproduction of mucus and production of a secretion that is a yellow-green color. The flow causes deterioration of sight, and during the night eyelashes became sticky. After waking up, eyes are not easy to open. Allergic conjunctivitis causes itchy eyes and eyelids. Dry inflammation creates a feeling of a foreign body in the eye.
Conjunctivitis - Treatment Bacterial conjunctivitis Treatments
In case the infection is bacterial, your doctor shall prescribe a particular kind of antibiotic eye drops as a pink treatment for your eyes, and the infection shall go away during few days. The Antibiotic ointment for eye, in place of eyedrops, is usually prescribed for curing bacterial pink eye in kids. For various forms of medication, excluding some symptoms and signs to start being better in a couple of weeks. You shall follow the doctor's instructions and use the antibiotics for the complete period prescribed to prevent recurrence of the infection.
Viral conjunctivitis Treatment It is known that most cases of viral conjunctivitis have no cure. Instead, the virus requires a particular period of running its course for up to 14 to 21 days. Viral conjunctivitis usually starts in the first eye and gradually infects the second eye during a week. Your signs and symptoms should gradually remove on their own. Antiviral medications can be a good choice in case your doctor determines that the simplex herpes virus causes your viral conjunctivitis.
