Britni English hasn't added a story.
Hey everyone! I've seen the incredible kindness and generosity come from this page and thought I would share Tibbers story. He was born without use of his back legs but thankfully wasn't 100% paralyzed. We believe it to be a birth defect/muscle problem and with lots of different exercises (physical therapy/water therapy) he has miraculously learned to walk under my care in less than a month. The day he came to me, he couldn't move his tail or back legs at all and they had almost zero feeling on them. All he could do was lie down and he was just miserable. Although he had a rough first week when he first came to us, he has become an entirely different little puppy after learning to stand, and then an even happier one after finally learning to walk! It's still a bit wobbly, he has good days and bad, but he definitely has a strong will to not only live but to actually get up and try so I say there's plenty of reasons to help him. He was three weeks old as of June 10th which was the day I learned of him. Being known as a pre-vet student in our small town I had many people contacting me to see if I could help out. I have rehabilitated many litters of newborn puppies and kittens, and even 2 baby bunnies after a dog killed their mom, for human societies when mothers weren't able to care for them. I had never taken on an actual disabled animal so I was incredibly nervous but wanted to give it my best shot. And boy I am glad I did!! This little man is so incredibly loving and happy! He is now about 13 weeks old, I've had him in my care for 10 of them. Here's the thing though, because he still has a few health problems; seizures, inner ear issues, can't quite run yet, and is still very shaky to name a few, he isn't ready to be adopted out yet BUT his bills are adding up. He needs X-rays, potentially surgery, and diagnostic testing done. I would also ideally like him to be up to date on shots AND neutered before I choose his adopter. His bills right now are looking to be right at $800. Because he's needed such extensive daily care and work, I've become very attached to him and want to give him the best care possible. He's a love bug for sure and everyone who meets him just falls in love. If anyone can help with his expenses, even just a small amount would help tremendously to pay for his vet bills, puppy food, & other costs. It would be eternally appreciated!
