Word of Life Church II hasn't added a story.
Word of Life Church II is seeking funds to purchase the property at 701 E Grant Street to build a community center to reach out to the neighborhood and build comradery to assist in meeting unmet needs and reach the community for Christ. Once the center is constructed and running efficiently, we can open the center to expand into the city of Marion.
Dear Prospective Supporter:
With the assistance of Word of Life Church II (WOLC2) members, the Jehovah Jireh Foundation (JJF) is being created to assist community members living in the Northeast Neighborhood Association of Marion, Indiana. WOLC2 is located at 654 East Grant Street and invited the community to our first service followed by a picnic on July 14, 2013. We have accepted an offer and begun collecting funds to pay for the property at 701 East Grant Street to open the JJF.
In researching the neighborhood, we have learned there are numerous children, yet no playground or bike route where they can safely grow and play. City-data.com reports this to be a low income, single parent community. Therefore, it is our desire to open a community center to our neighbors, then assess and assist to meet those needs.
The long term vision is to build community and camaraderie within the neighborhood by discerning and meeting the needs of our neighbors. We would like to start with the center to minister to the families and tutor their children while surveying the community needs. Some of our thoughts are to build community gardens and parks, establish a safe bike route through the neighborhood, open a restaurant and a clothing/household item exchange, have theme nights for all age groups, game nights, Bible studies, etc.
It is our hope that our neighbors can rally together as portrayed in the book of Acts--neighbors helping neighbors. There are many empty lots and condemned houses, beautiful houses in need of repair, yards to mow, etc. If we can truly become a community, we believe by pooling community resources and neighbors helping neighbors, people will be able to afford/acquire the things/services needed, and eliminate clutter in their houses and yards all through a pooling of resources. This process will also allow for opportunity to educate youth in etiquette and basic skills for their future.
We at WOLC2 are committed to assisting the neighborhood people that are willing to spend the time and effort to make this plan effective for the Northeast Neighborhood Association. We are in the process of writing a business plan to establish and build the community center and have begun raising monies to purchase the property while we continue to finish the business plan and locate grants to fund the project. We currently need just less than 50 more persons/businesses willing to contribute $100 or 100 contributions of $50 (‘Ulysses S. Grant’ while waiting for grants) or any other amounts, we will be able to purchase the property and begin the process! Your contribution is tax-deductible, as this venture will be established as a 501(C)3.
Can we count on your support in this community development project? We believe that success in this venture can inspire other communities to rally together to truly MAKE IT MARION! Thank you for your consideration and support.
