Lewis was abandoned with his brother and left to fend for himself for several months. Lewis' brother was hit by a car and killed....... and Lewis himself was hit by a car and his back leg was severely damaged.

A kind samaritan finally caught Lewis and brought him to safety.

But Lewis was almost starved to death and suffering from internal parasites and a bacterial infection.

Lewis weighs only 23 lbs and should weigh 40.

The biggest expense in getting Lewis well is his back leg... it needs to be amputated. It was severely broken when he was hit by a car and then it healed while Lewis was homeless. Part of his foot is missing and the leg is crooked and drags. The quoted cost of the amputation is 1200 dollars by a local veterinarian. This will allow Lewis to get around without dragging his broken leg.

We currently have Lewis in a foster home where he is rehabbing from starvation and illness. He is a very shy boy but very sweet. He wants to trust again..he wants a home again. Lewis needs to gain 12 -15 lbs in order to get his surgery... he is on his way... eating normally now and feeling much better.

Lewis will be available for adoption after his surgery. He is looking for a quiet home with adults who will be kind to him. He loves to get on your lap. He is ok with cats. Will you be the one to open your heart to him?

He is a purebred cattle dog.
